Aquaponics is the is the symbiotic cultivation of plants and aquatic animals in a recirculating environment. The fish waste is converted into plant food by naturally occurring beneficial bacteria. The plants consume the fish waste and actually clean the water for the fish. The only thing I ever have to add to the system is fishfood. I'm just using goldfish to get this prototype going but I hope to some day cultivate and harvest Tilapia or Trout using this method in a larger greenhouse type environment. No chemicals are used as they would hurt the fish so this system is completely organic.
